Allure of the Seas is the second ship in the Oasis Class and is 226,963 GT’s. She carries 5,496 passengers (based on two per cabin) with a total guest capacity of 6,826. The 18-deck ship took her maiden voyage on December 5, 2010. Harmony of the Seas is the third ship in the Oasis Class and is 226,963 GT’s.
What is the smallest Royal Caribbean ship?
At full capacity, the Harmony of the Seas holds 7,779 passengers. That includes 5,479 cruise vacationers and 2,300 staff members. The Royal Caribbean Harmony of the Seas total number of staterooms is 2,745. The Royal Caribbean Symphony of the Seas has a construction date of 2018 and a total size of 228,081 gross tons. The ship measures 1,188 feet (362 meters) in length and falls in line as number 4 among Royal Caribbean's 36 existing and former cruise ships.
I sailed on Royal Caribbean's Icon of the Seas. These were my 8 favorite amenities on the world's largest cruise ship.
While I would've preferred a quieter atmosphere (the DJ did not, in fact, play smooth jazz), the pool's views, day beds, and lack of screaming children were hard to beat. The 7,600-guest Icon of the Seas has seven pools and nine hot tubs. As a kid-fearing adult, I loved the grown-ups-only suspended infinity pool.
FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY
The fifth ship, Wonder of the Seas added an eighth neighborhood ‘Suite Neighborhood’, a new restaurant ‘The Mason Jar’ and a new bar ‘ Vue’. The oldest ship in the Royal Caribbean fleet is Grandeur of the Seas which launched back in 1996. Grandeur of the Seas is the smallest Royal Caribbean ship in the fleet. Later on, the company merged with the greek cruise line Celebrity Cruises but kept the brand alive whilst also running Royal Caribbean. A further acquisition in 2018 of Silversea Cruises added another brand to the company, aimed at luxury cruise travellers.
Oasis of the Seas
It's a lot more affordable per day than the two ships mentioned above, which are the belles of the ball in the Royal Caribbean fleet and command significantly higher rates. With access to a stylish rooftop pool, loungers at the suite area's private sun deck and higher-level food in its private Coastal Kitchen eatery, you may never want to leave the enclave. However, this being Royal Caribbean, you'll also have access to a seemingly endless array of amusements from waterslides to aerial water shows just steps away. Called the Suite Neighborhood, the complex offers some of the biggest (and priciest) suites at sea, including the sprawling, two-deck-high Royal Loft suites that measure more than 1,500 square feet. That said, the Quantum-class ships are extremely popular with many delighted by the ‘North Star‘ attraction on the top of each Quantum-class ship.
The biggest ship in the world is going even bigger on flavor, with limitless options to satisfy every palette. Sun-kissed Caribbean shores are yours to explore onboard Symphony of the Seas® sailing from Fort Lauderdale. Then deep dive into Aruba’s colorful underwater world the next.
(tied). Ovation of the Seas
Plus, more than 70% of all staterooms onboard will feature balconies. At the time of writing, the lowest advertised fare on Royal Caribbean's website for a cruise onboard Icon in 2024 starts at $3,005 per person for an interior room for the March 23 sailing. The inaugural cruise will depart on Saturday, January 27 and sail to Basseterre, St. Kitts & Nevis' Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas; and Perfect Day At Cococay. This voyage will signify the ship's completion, as the ship will officially be ready for regular service.
Imagine the Boardwalk neighborhood layout from the Oasis Class ships completely re-designed to provide family fun for the six and under crowd, along with their parents. Royal Caribbean says 6 and under is the ideal age, but I could see 8 and 9 year olds enjoying some of the spaces too. Located on the back of the ship, it's the first suspended infinity pool at sea and I wanted to go right in. I had a great plan to tell all of you my camera "died" and I had no other way to capture content as an excuse to go spend the afternoon in the infinity pool. Alas, my sense of responsibility (and the fact I didn't pack a bathing suit) won out.

Royal Bay Pool is slated to be the largest pool at sea, and all the hot tubs strewn around the deck should find plenty of customers. Royal Bay is enormous and looks like it takes up half the length of the deck. The Swim & Tonic pool is easily going to be the most popular pool on the ship with its swim-up bar and in-pool seating.
The Royal Caribbean Explorer of the Seas total number of staterooms is 1,641. The Royal Caribbean Mariner of the Seas has a construction date of 2003 and a total size of 138,279 gross tons. The ship measures 1,020 feet (311 meters) in length and falls in line as number 17 among Royal Caribbean's 36 existing and former cruise ships. At full capacity, the Mariner of the Seas holds 4,299 passengers.
There are currently five Oasis-class ships and the sixth one is on order (Utopia of the Seas) – there are differences between each ship, although structurally they are all the same class of ship. The biggest ship in the world is also the first to bring eight unique neighborhoods to the epic Oasis Class — including the luxurious Suite Neighborhood. So there's more room than ever for adventure, palate-pleasing dining, and awe-inspiring entertainment — only on Royal Caribbean®. We cruised on Mariner of the Seas for four nights and were never short of activities on board. For a short sailing like this, the mid-sized ships on the fleet are ideal. We cruised on Allure of the Seas for seven nights and didn’t get time to see or do everything on board.
At 361m long, Symphony of the Seas is one metre longer, and also 1,200 tonnes larger in terms of volume. However, Oasis of the Seas can carry almost an additional 100 passengers at maximum capacity. Generally, the newest Royal Caribbean ships will be the biggest in the world, or at least close to the top. And it’s the longest ship in the world too, though only by around 10 feet.
Not to worry, Royal Caribbean says it will all be good to by the time paying guests get onboard. On the day I visited, there was work being done to set everything up. No construction, just finishing touches and deliveries and set up of furnishings.
The Icon will measure 250,800 gross tons and will span 1,196 feet (365 meters) in length. It will hold a whopping 7,600 cruise passengers within its 2,805 total stateroom cabins. The largest active ship in Royal Caribbean's fleet is the Wonder of the Seas.
There's a reason Royal Caribbean's new mega-cruise ship is only operating seven-night sailings. Since its inception, the company has expanded its fleet to include some of the industry’s biggest and most innovative cruise vessels. The largest Royal Caribbean ships are part of the Oasis class, including the Symphony of the Seas and Harmony of the Seas. Utopia of the Seas will be the sixth Oasis-class cruise ship. The cost of a Royal Caribbean cruise isn't directly correlated with size.
Good luck convincing those kids it's time to leave when there's pools, a carousel, mac and cheese, and Shirley Temples all around you. I've always thought of Royal Caribbean as the best family cruise line already, but I wish we had Surfside when my kids were under the age of 10. It will have a drop slide, the tallest drop slide at sea, family raft slides and two mat-racing slides. Even with some areas inaccessible, I think this pool deck is going to be a real winner for the line.
